Enrichment

Overview

All students participate in enrichment programs to develop art, music, physical education, library, and technology skills. Full-time music and arts teachers meet with every classroom once a week.

Music

At TCA, our band teacher leads music instruction and fine art programming, which is a vital component of our well-balanced curriculum.

  • 72% of Upper Campus are learning to play an instrument
  • Music classes include Music Theory and Singing Instruction.
  • TCA choir meets one hour after school at no cost, and performs at venues such as City Hall, nursing homes, and during Mass.
  • A part-time brass instruction teacher leads the TCA jazz and brass bands, and offers free lessons for grades 4 through 8 during school hours to learn trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion instruments.
  • Free lessons for wind instruments like clarinet, flute and saxophone are offered during the week by TCA’s woodwind teacher.
  • TCA’s band has participated in the annual Huntington School Parade and the Brockton Holiday Parade where they have twice won “Best Band in Parade.”

Arts

TCA has a full-time art teacher who meets with every classroom once a week. TCA students have earned several local and regional art awards and recognition, including:

  • an Honorable Mention at the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest sponsored by the Boston Globe;
  • exhibits at the Transportation Building in Boston for Massachusetts Art Education Association Youth Art Month
  • a submission to the National Convention from the Massachusetts Art Education Association.

Athletics

Our competitive athletics program teaches students discipline, teamwork and good sportsmanship, helping them reach their full potential both in and outside the classroom.

  • In 2017, the TCA Middle School Boys Basketball team won its second-straight Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) State Championship, their fourth title in seven years.
  • The Boys Basketball Team also won the New England Region Championship in 2014 as well as six CYO South Shore Parochial School League (SSPSL) Championships from 2011-2016.
  • The TCA Junior Girls Basketball team achieved a 10-0 record, scoring a championship title in the SSPSL for the 2017 season.
